Malta, like the rest of the world, will be celebrating Worker’s Day next week.

May I take this opportunity to wish all the workers a happy day, especially to those who will still be on duty in spite of the fact that this is a public holiday.

Let us make use of this day to reflect on the development that has taken place over the past years in terms of conditions of work. We have made great strides forward in this regard. There is still a lot to do, but when one looks back on what has been achieved there is reason to be proud.

Maltese workers have contributed a lot to the country’s well-being and progress. They have played an important part in building the country as we know it today.

Let us not forget that.
