The education system, and the ability of Maltese workers to develop new skills, had enabled Malta to attract Lm575 million in foreign investment last year, which had created 6,100 new jobs, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said yesterday.

Speaking during a visit to Automation Technologies at the Business Incubation Centre in Corradino as part of activities marking Workers’ Day, Dr Gonzi spoke highly of the work being carried out by Malta Enterprise to attract more investment.

Maltese workers, he said, were able to turn challenges into opportunities through their ability to learn new skills.

Company managing director Stephen Vella explained that the firm specialises in technologies for super yachts.

The company’s employees all received their training at MCAST.
