PM Meets night shift workers

Methode Electronics is to increase its investment and will soon be employing 700 workers, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi was told when he met night shift workers on Thursday as part of activities marking Worker’s Day.

Dr Gonzi, who was accompanied by Justice and Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg, said he wanted to show his appreciation to all those who do not work normal office hours.

Methode Electronics has been operating in Malta since 1966, and manufactures switches and electronic apparatus for car manufacturers such as General Motors, Ford, Jaguar, Mazda, Alfa, Volvo, BMW, Rover, Audi, Aston Martin, MG Rover and Saab.

Dr Gonzi had words of praise for the way the company was not only creating jobs but was also investing in research and innovation. The machines used by the company were designed by Maltese employees.
