‘Poor Workmanship causes damage to shops’

Malta Independent Saturday, 28 April 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

The Marsascala Shop-owners Association has called for an investigation to establish responsibility for the poor workmanship in St Anne Street that led to considerable damage being suffered by shops in Marina Street.

It said that the local council and the Water Services Corporation were engaged in a war of words about who was responsible, but in the meantime the owners of the shops were themselves having to deal with the costs.

Many of the shops had suffered flooding and damage that had necessitated the replacement of pipes and tiles, said the association, and someone should be held responsible for this and for the lost custom the shops had suffered. The owners should be compensated, it said. It would be disgraceful if anyone were to be paid for the work done, the association argued.
