Every Wednesday afternoon, (from 5.30 to 6.30pm), Radju Kottoner presents an hour-long radio show targeted at young listeners.

The show, which is entitled K ghal Kottonera Kids is produced and hosted by Deo Grech and Alexandra Vella, both of whom have experience in education, theatre and media as they are both drama teachers in the Education Division’s Drama Unit.

K ghal Kottonera Kids promotes reading among children, mainly the students from Cottonera College made up of Cospicua, Vittoriosa, Senglea, Kalkara, Xghajra and Zabbar schools.

Literacy is promoted in various sections of the show. Reviews of books in Maltese and English are presented by Deo on a weekly basis, stimulating the curiosity of children and adults alike.

Legends from around the world are also presented on a weekly basis. These legends have been translated into Maltese from English by Alexandra and are told in typical “story-telling” style.

Students are encouraged to visit suggested educational websites – a very helpful tools for students’ research work.

Deo and Alexandra act out the scripts of various Theatre-In-Education projects written by Govann Attard (from the Drama Unit) that are regularly presented for students by the Drama Unit staff.

K ghal Kottonera Kids also promotes literacy through drama projects. Various drama projects held by

students in the Cottonera College are tackled on the show, on a weekly basis. Students and teachers are invited for an interview, followed by short performances by the students themselves.
