The newly crowned champions Marsaxlokk registered their fourth win of the season over Msida in an interesting match that came to life in the second half, thanks mainly to Msida's stiff opposition in the second part of the game. Patrick Curmi had to do without Ibrahim Babatunde and Daniel Nwoke, and this complicated matters for Msida.

Marsaxlokk added two further goals late in the game to register a big win, even though Msida deserved at least a consolation goal.

On the contrary Marsaxlokk played for the first time without the pressure of having to win at all costs. In fact backed by a joyous and numerous crowd Marsaxlokk stormed forward from the very first minute putting the boys in red under constant pressure.

Cleaven Frendo had a good shot going over the bar, but on 18 minutes Msida's Zongo made his way past the Marsaxlokk defenders but his hot was blocked by Rueben Gauci.

A minute later Marsaxlokk forged ahead when Daniel Bogdanovic found acres of space on the right of the Msida defence and beat Omar Borg with a precise grounder.

Three minutes later Omar Borg was at his best saving a Frendo shot and managing to block Andre Schembri's shot from the rebound. On 34 minutes defender Luke Dimech missed a sitter in front of goal following a Frendo freekick.

Just before the interval whistle Kevin Sammut doubled the score with a beauty from the edge of the area with the ball in the top corner of the net.

In the second half Msida were more on the ball and went close on two occasions and in both cases Karl Ebejer's shots went slightly over the bar. In return Omar Borg made another two outstanding saves off shots from substitute Gareth Sciberras and danger man Daniel Bogdanovic.

However Msida continued to improve in the second half and Zongo was stopped by Gauci's desperate sortie. Omar Borg continued to be a key element for Msida saving everything that came his way.

In the last minutes Marsaxlokk scored two further goals to increase their tally. Bogdanovic was pulled inside the area by Josef Mifsud and from the resultant penalty the same Bogdanovic scored his brace. A minute from time Andre Schembri crowned an overall good performance beating Omar Borg with a fierce drive.
