A man was yesterday charged with threatening three people with a harpoon on Sunday afternoon.
Jonathan Caruana, 23, from Marsa, was charged with threatening Dorianne McKay, Vincenza McKay and Noel Borg with a harpoon in Birkirkara. He was also charged with breaching the peace, swearing in public, carrying a harpoon without a licence, carrying a sharp and pointed instrument without a licence, committing a crime during the operative term of a conditional discharge and relapsing.
Before Magistrate Edwina Grima, Mr Caruana pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. He was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm300.
Police Inspector Kevin Farrugia prosecuted while Dr Joe Giglio appeared for the accused.
