Gutenberg Press Limited, which services its local and foreign clientele by offering a one stop shop for pre-press, print and post-press service, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year by achieving ISO 9001 certification, with the Malta Standards Authority as the certification body.

Competitiveness and Communications Minister Censu Galea yesterday visited the company and dwelt on its success, which he said was the result of the foresight of its management and workforce. Many of the over 100 employees have been with the company for more than 10 years.

In 2006, Gutenberg had a turnover that was 12 per cent higher than that of the previous year, exceeding Lm4 million; more than 50 per cent of the turnover was sales to clientele in other EU states; and in the last three years, the workforce was increased by 50 per cent.

During the period 2005-2007, Gutenberg Press Limited is investing e5 million in expansion plans. For 2007, an anticipated investment of e1.7 million has been approved, and next July, a 10-colour printing machine will be installed which is expected to boost the company’s printing capacity to cater for new European and American markets.

Gutenberg Press was set up by Frank Spiteri in March 1982. Mr Galea said that as a result of Mr Spiteri’s foresight and knowledge of the industry, this soon flourished into a fast-growing, dynamic

company.
