Foreign Minister In Rhodes meeting

Foreign Minister Michael Frendo visited Rhodes, Greece, to attend the opening session of a ministerial conference on the new EU Maritime Policy – Quality of Life and Security in Coastal Areas.

The conference was launched by the Greek minister of foreign affairs, Dora Bokayannis and chaired by Greek’s deputy foreign minister, Dr Yannis Valinakis. The EU commissioner for fisheries and maritime affairs, Joe Borg, who drafted the policy, delivered a keynote speech.

During the meeting, participants raised questions and put forward their views on the policy document which will be considered by the Commission before a final decision on the document which will be taken at a meeting to be held in Bremen, Germany, in May.

Malta’s ambassador to Greece, Saviour Falzon also participated in the meeting.
