Andrew Borg has always been attracted to the demanding and unforgiving nature of watercolours as a painting medium. The fact that painting in watercolours is a discipline that demands a combination of a variety of skills increases his compulsion to remain faithful to the medium. Being self critical, selective and having an evolving sense of inspiration are also essential to move forward.

As with every other artist before him, Andrew has been influenced by the great masters. Artists like John Singer Sargent, Edward Seago and Trevor Chamberlain all help keep his feet firmly on the ground yet, encourage him to aspire to such goals. And he relishes such a challenge.

This collection is Andrew’s first solo exhibition and catalogues his works over the past year. His first participation in a public exhibition was in one of the early New Faces collective exhibitions held by Gallery G, where the support he received at the vernissage encouraged him to continue to paint and produce this fine collection of paintings.

Over 80 paintings inspired by the Maltese Islands will be on view to the public between today and 25 May. The exhibition is sponsored by Bank of Valletta, Attard & Co., VoloRosso Wines and Digiprint.

Gallery G’s exhibition halls and Gallery shop (4 Sir Ugo Mifsud Street, Lija) are open to the public between 9am and 5pm on weekdays and from 9.30am to 12:30pm on Saturdays.
