I was one of those hundreds of drivers who last Wednesday ended up frustrated because of the new Valletta traffic management system.

I spent at least half-an-hour trying to get to Valletta from the Marsa side, but with the park and ride area already brimming with cars, and the ring road already full of parked cars, I had no option but to turn back and park in Floriana.

I think that, first of all, drivers should have received better and more information about what was going to happen. OK, adverts in the printed media were published, but perhaps it would have been better for all the residents to receive booklets in their home describing how the system is going to work and where exactly they can park.

I am sure that, with time, the situation will smooth out and we will soon get used to it. But I believe that, as usual, we try to implement a system when we are still not ready for it.
