Jean Pierre finally crept on stage at the mature age of 32… and has refused to get off ever since. His first appearance was in Masquerade's Amadeus and subsequently, Cabaret. A last minute replacement in a lead role in Harold Pinter's One for the Road, won him Best Actor in the MADC's One-Act Play Festival of 2003. In Noises Off, he tried his hand at comedy, followed by the parts of the poison-tongued Mirror in MADC panto Snow White and the furry-legged Cynergix in Hercules. Roles in MADC Shakespeare productions include Sebastian in MADC'S s The Tempest, Salerio in The Merchant of Venice and Hortensio in The Taming of the Shrew. He is currently completing filming for a new TV series called Kugini on Net TV. Jean Pierre will be playing the part of Tony in Losing Louis to be held at the MADC Clubrooms in Sta Venera today 6 May at 8pm.

What would you like to be doing in 10 years’ time?
I would like to continue to be heading the Commercial and Merchandise operation of Marks & Spencer, but hopefully by then it will be a much larger international operation for the local franchise. I also hope to be still acting as much as I can on stage and TV.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Perfect happiness is not to be concerned with deadlines and bills to pay but rather enjoying time with my nephew and nieces or lying on a beach in Mykonos with a good book.
What is your favourite occupation?
I always knew I’d work in the fashion industry as it has always excited me… so I’m lucky I do. Over the past few years the passion for acting has grown and now I look at international actors with great envy… maybe one day!?
Significant other?
None… still looking! All offers will be considered.
What is your greatest fear?
To have lived life without being honest with myself and not having taken chances.
What is it that you most value in your friends?
Their patience when listening to me whinge and their ability to make me laugh.
How would you like to die?
In the presence of someone I love.
What is your greatest extravagance?
Expensive skincare. I’m gripped by the fear of ageing. I’m not sure if the stuff actually does anything… but why risk!
What is your greatest regret?
That I didn’t study singing and acting at a young age… that way I might have had a better chance of pursuing an acting career abroad. But I don’t really believe in having regrets.
What is your most treasured possession?
I won the Best Actor award in 2003 during MADC’s one-act festival and it was the first time I had a speaking role on stage. It was such a big boost to my confidence and I felt for the first time that maybe I could act after all!
Which talent would you most like to have apart from the ones you already have?
SINGING! I really wish I could sing well… I’m training my voice at the moment, but it’s hard work. I dream of being good enough to sing confidently on stage one day. Beware!
What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
Loneliness and feeling that you’re not significant to anyone.
Where would you like to live?
I chose to live in Malta at the age of 24 after having lived in several countries... and I still consider it a great place to live. Barcelona would be the only other place I would consider living in.
What is your most marked
characteristic?
I’m calm and dependable. I’d like to be considered to be intelligent, fashionable and witty… but maybe that’s pushing it!
Who are your heroes/heroines in real life?
I’d have to say my mum: propelled into the role of ambassador’s wife and a mother at a very young age. She went on to raise four children while shifting homes across seven countries, continued to teach at schools until retirement age, and always managed to have food ready for us at dinnertime. She’s pretty special.
What is it that you most dislike?
Hatred and prejudice that stems from ignorance.
What is your motto?
Things are never as bad as they first seem. There’s always a solution.
