The awful problem of cruel injustice in the nations of the world challenges the conscience of the human family today more so than at any other period.

The very nature of untold suffering everywhere visible in the world is tangible evidence of the lamentable consequences of such a situation. But with this ultra modern period we speak about, there is a cancerous disease spreading about, all the more devastating and menacing because it is making its appearance among those nations which are most civilised.

The disease of which I am writing about involves the interior disintegration of man himself. There is no doubt that mankind is in danger. People like the Women on Waves and the ship of death ready to offer its “services” in international waters are reason enough to believe that our civilisation stands at a critical juncture in human history.

Rebecca Comperts insisted that Malta is definitely on their list. The services rendered are not bowls of fruit or hampers. Her intentions are not of a pious kind. All she seeks is the disintegration of the gift of life of an unborn child through abortion.

She is enthusiastic about the nature of her “work”, campaigning in other European states like Portugal and Poland.

Abortion kills the frail, the vulnerable, the defenceless, the voiceless.

What Dr Comperts fails to realise is that her presence on our shores is not welcome. Even if she considers herself a saviour of women with unwanted pregnancies, the lamentable consequences of the abortion situation will cause suffering to the mother who has aborted for the rest of her life.

Dr Comperts is in denial over the fact that what she and her team propose to do will sadly leave grave repercussions on the mother who chooses to abort her child. She refuses to believe that an abortion will leave the mother with a “disability” for life – that regret and nightmares over the indubitable slaughter of a child will haunt her for the rest of her days.

Do the Women on Waves really think they are doing us a favour? Does Dr Comperts expect us to show our undying gratitude over the fact that a lethal pill is a safe method of abortion?

Does she expect our government to give her carte blanche to go ahead with her plans to visit Malta?

I sincerely hope that just as the government and opposition were in agreement over the SmartCity project, they will unite once more to ask Dr Comperts and her accomplices not to come.
