Five Seminarians to be instituted lectors

Malta Independent Tuesday, 8 May 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Archbishop Mgr Paul Cremona OP will be instituting five seminarians as lectors in a ceremony being held at St Mary’s parish church, Attard, on 11 May at 6.30pm.

The five new lectors, who are in their fifth year of formation at the seminary, are Nicholas Doublet from Birkirkara (St Helen’s), Keith Scicluna from Zabbar, Luke Seguna from Tarxien and Andrea Zaffarese and Ronnie Zammit from Attard.

The Ministry of Lectorate marks another step in the priestly formation of these young men. As lectors they are officially entrusted with the proclamation of God’s word during the liturgy, they endeavour to help the faithful receive the sacraments worthily and they share the message of salvation with their fellow brothers and sisters, especially those who have not experienced it.

The Seminary community is encouraging prayer for more vocations and to ask for the Lord’s blessing on all seminarians so that they may always be faithful shepherds according to His will.
