The Silents are Golden series, being presented by the Manoel Theatre and St James Cavalier, continues with yet another horror classic, The Golem, tomorrow.
This 1915 film was made in Germany and directed by Paul Wegener and Henrik Galeen. Both directors also star in the film as the golem and an antiques dealer respectively. When the dealer resurrects this ancient mud-made monster to use as his servant, he also opens the way to disaster.
The golem falls in love with the dealer’s wife, and when she fails to return that love, he turns into a destructive beast. The Golem, which is based on several Jewish folktales, will be accompanied with live music by Tim Ellis on the keyboards. It will be shown in the Manoel Theatre Courtyard at 8pm.
