MLP To address workers’ issues

Malta Independent Tuesday, 8 May 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 15 years ago

The majority of people wanted change, and this was pushing the Malta Labour Party into working harder to convince people that this change could be successfully implemented, MLP leader Alfred Sant said yesterday.

Speaking in Mellieha, Dr Sant said the MLP would continue to address workers’ issues, including the rise in the cost of living and increasing taxes that were eating away at their earnings.

MLP activists should be ready to explain to others what the MLP was proposing. “The people do not want empty words, but want political parties to address their everyday problems,” Dr Sant said.

In areas such as the cost of living, health, education and property, the MLP must show its commitment to make people understand what it would do to improve the situation when elected to government. The PN had promised a lot but had not fulfilled its promises, he said.
