Ray Bondin was one of the main speakers at an international convention that discussed the state of the UNESCO World Heritage city of Naples.

Other speakers included UNESCO World Heritage Centre director Prof. Francesco Bandarin, ICCROM director-general Dr Mounir Bouchenaki and

ICOMOS secretary-general Dinu Bumbaru. A number of senior ministerial and local officials also took part in the two-day meeting.

The aim of the conference was to discuss with local officials the state of the site and to come up with a programme of action. In fact, the conference ended with the acceptance of a document for future action.

Dr Bondin was requested to speak about the management of historic cities and his speech was welcomed by the local authorities, who asked him to continue to collaborate with them in trying to resolve existing problems.

Naples has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1997.
