Bank of Valletta is supporting an education programme being implemented by the Down’s Syndrome Association in collaboration with the Eden Foundation. The aim of the programme is to complement the teaching received in schools by children who have Down’s syndrome, with a view to supporting them in leading a more independent life.

“Studies have shown that more active participation in practical events encourages these children to take decisions and be less dependent on others,” said Down’s Syndrome Association chairperson Marthese Mugliette.

She was explaining the benefits of the education programme during one of the sessions at the association’s premises in Valletta during a visit by BOV head of marketing and communications Michael Galea. Ms Mugliette said the subjects tackled in the programme are varied and include cooking, cleaning, recognising monetary notes and coins and their usage and using public transport, as well as crafts and hobbies.

During the visit, Mr Galea presented the BOV sponsorship for the education programme to Ms Mugliette.
