The Vienna Classical Players will be playing popular works, mainly by Johann Strauss, in a concert organised by Malta International Airport. The concert, under the direction of Martin Kerschbaum, will be given at the Manoel Theatre on 27 May at 8pm.

The Vienna Classical Players were founded in 1995 by Mr Kerschbaum.

The artists are members of important Viennese symphonic orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, the Vienna Symphony, the Austrian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Niederösterreichische Tonkünstler.

Besides numerous concerts in Austria the ensemble has toured extensively throughout Europe and performed at festivals such as the famous Athens Festival in Greece and the Ivo Pogorelich Festival in Germany. In 2002 they toured Italy, appearing in Rome, Ravenna, La Spezia and many other venues, and in the ten years of their existence have become widely known for the high quality of their musicianship.

They focus mainly on maintaining the tradition of the Vienna classical school. However, due to their flexible possibilities, they are able to dedicate themselves to a wider repertoire which includes romantic and contemporary music.
