Over the weekend Marsa C.C played against new touring side MC3 C.C. and finally broke their nine game losing streak.
On Saturday Marsa won the toss and elected to bat first. John Grima opened the batting and made a steady thirty runs. Robert Krishna made fourteen runs. Mike Smith made thirty nine runs from twenty nine balls faced. Ronnie Sacco batted well for thirty one runs and his brother Mark made thirty nine runs. Nadeem Ashraf put in an entertaining fifty seven runs from thirty five balls faced including eight fours and one six. The visitors bowling let them down giving away sixty six extras. Marsa totaled 289 runs. J.King was the most successful bowler taking four wickets. The tourists had a great start with D.Jones scoring fifty one runs and T.Green scoring fifty seven runs. Unfortunately for them the Marsa put the brakes on their scoring. Only J.Knight (fourteen runs) and J.King (eleven runs) made it too double figures. They totaled 159 runs giving Marsa a well earned win. For Marsa Sarfraz Ali took three wickets, while Joy Ghoseroy and Ronnie Sacco both took two wickets each.
On Sunday four women were playing in the scheduled twenty twenty game. Two on both sides. Marsa won the toss and elected to bat. Frank Spiteri batted well to make forty six runs. Nowell Khosla made twenty eight including two sixes, Catherine Clark scored sixteen runs,Sunny Krishna twenty two runs, Nicky Lucas three runs and Sagar Krishna eleven runs. Marsa totalled 149 runs from the allotted overs. Sue Mumford bowled well for the visitors taking one wicket for twenty seven runs.
The visitors tried to hit hard, only J.Rees managed to give Marsa a scare scoring twenty five runs. They could only manage 92 runs from their allotted overs. For Marsa Nicky Lucas was the main wicket taker taking three wickets for twenty one runs, the highlight was her clean bowling C.Smith for a duck. Marsa won the series two to nil.
Tomorrow the nursery/Academy will be open from 9:30 till 11:30am and the first game of the Globalair challenge will be played at 12pm.
