The second round of the 30th edition of the Italian Serie A league reserved for clubs, together with the Serie B and Serie C league was held in Rome.

Eight teams formed the Serie A while the Serie B was based on 12 teams. Another ten teams took part in Serie C.

Besides Massimo Cremona (photo) with Perugia in Italy, Derek Conti figured for Roma in Serie A, while in Serie B, Charles Aquilina and Joseph Borg Bonaci played for Catania and Ilia Zammit Marmara and Jean Carl Tabone figured for Palermo.

In the tough Serie A, Cremona figured in all his club’s 14 matches where he won 10 matches, drew three and lost just one game, helping his side Perugia achieving second place.

Two matches from the end, Perugia were leading the table one point ahead of Napoli but the direct encounter saw Napoli winning 3-1 and thus overtaking Perugia by two points.

As a team Perugia won 12, drew one and lost only one game – to Napoli.

Napoli won the Italian Serie A league with 39 points followed by Perugia on 37, with both teams thrashing all others clubs. Third place went to Falconara with just 19 points. Milano were next with 17 points.

Cremona’s individual results were: v. Proietti 2-0 (Roma), Monica 3-1 (Reggiana), Bertelli 3-3 (Pisa), Apollo 2-0 (Bologna), Croatti 2-0 (Falconara), Mettievieri 0-2 (Napoli) and Corradi 3-1 (Milano)

In the Serie B, Palermo, with the Maltese touch of Zammit Marmara and Tabone among there ranks, made history by obtaining promotion to the Serie A after finishing the table in second place. They had to play a promotion play off match against Catania who had Aquilina and Borg Bonaci among their ranks. As the match game ended in a 2-2 draw, it was enough for Palermo to obtain their first promotion ever to Serie A.
