A concert of sacred music is being given by the University Junior College Orchestra, under the direction of Mro Manuel Pirotta, at Xewkija parish church on 13 May at 7.30pm as part of the Pope John Paul II memorial festival.

It will mark the 26th anniversary of the attempt on the life of Pope John Paul II in St Peter’s Square in Rome.

The concert will feature music by C. Gounod, G. Verdi, W.A. Mozart, P.I. Tchaikowsky, A.W. Ketelbey, J.S. Bach, G.F. Hendel and others.

Entrance is free of charge but a collection will be made to raise money for the monument planned in honour of Pope John Paul II.
