All you fashionistas out there prepare your most glamorous frocks – The Malta Fashion Awards are back. The magnificent Mediterranean Conference Centre will once again act as a spectacular backdrop to the event that has proved itself to be the fashion event of the year. An event followed not only by those who have got fashion at heart but also by those who enjoy a night filled with the best talents the Maltese entertainment world can offer.

The Malta Fashion Awards in fact are considered to be an important stepping-stone in the career of many artists. This event has proved itself to be the perfect showcase not only for fashion designers, hairstylists and models but also for anyone who forms part of the performing arts. This year’s event will shed light not only on the musical talent of the young up-and-coming Klinsmann Coleiro and on the more seasoned talents of Scar and Ira Losco but will also highlight the particular talents of Anthony Desira, an artist who has made the art of body-painting so popular.

The show will be hosted by the lovely Pauline Agius, while Carlo Borg Bonaci will be doing the live voiceovers. During this event, seven awards will be given to those who have been in the limelight of the fashion industry in Malta. Awards will be given to hairstylists, make-up artists, male and female models, female photo models, fashion photographers, and for the best advertising campaign using local talents. These awards will be interspaced with the most spectacularly choreographed shows from the various sectors that make up the fashion world.

This yearly event has managed to totally transform the image of fashion in Malta from one that was stagnant to one that is dynamic and competitive in that it always looking for improvement and constantly facing challenges. Adrian J. Mizzi, the director and the man behind the Malta Fashion Awards, for the past nine years, was quoted as saying, “I wanted to create an event which Maltese people in this sector would be proud to be part of, not only because of the exposure and personal pride it brings about, but most importantly because they have the Maltese fashion industry at heart and want to see it improve to such an extent that it is able to compete with the more affirmed fashion shows abroad. This is being achieved at a very fast rate and for that I owe my thanks to the sponsors who supported me and to the local media which not only promotes the event beforehand but also broadcasts it.”
