Mrs Mary Fenech Adami, Health Minister Louis Deguara and Parliamentary Secretary Helen D’Amato together with members of the voluntary organisation Friends of St Vincent de Paul celebrated Mother’s Day at the home for the elderly.
Mrs D’Amato said Maltese society appreciated the years of dedication, work and sacrifices mothers endured for the good of their families. She added that these mothers were instrumental in instilling in their families the sound values that are a salient feature of the Maltese people.
She also appealed to the children of senior citizens to visit them, be it at St Vincent de Paul, other homes or at private residences.
Minister Deguara spoke about the ever-increasing number of foster mothers who take care of those who meet difficulties when living with their natural families. He also paid homage to all those nuns who dedicate their life at acting as mothers to countless children and youths.
