National Audit Office Anniversary conference

The 10th anniversary of the National Audit Office will be marked by a conference in which leaders of Malta’s public administration will review the contribution made by public sector auditing and explore ways of enhancing that contribution.

Senior civil servants, heads of non-departmental organisations, and members of the Public Accounts Committee and the National Audit Office Accounts Committee have also been invited to attend.

Parliamentary Speaker Anton Tabone will open and chair the conference, being held on Friday. Speakers will include President Emeritus Dr Ugo Mifsud Bonnici; Dr Charles Mangion, MP, chairman of the Public Accounts Committee; Dr Godwin Grima, Principal Permanent Secretary and Head of the Public Service; and Mr Joseph G. Galea, Auditor General.

Dr Hubert Weber, President of the European Court of Auditors; and Sir John Bourn, Comptroller and Auditor General of the UK National Audit Office, have also been invited to address the conference by relating the experiences in state auditing of their respective institutions.

Dr Edward Warrington, Director, Institute of Public Administration and Management from the University, Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy will act as the moderator.
