Alternattiva Demokratika chairperson, Dr Harry Vassallo launched an art exhibition by Eva Aramatys at the Sinclair Stevenson Gallery in Gharb. After graduating in medicine at the University of Lodz in Poland, Eva Aramatys completed her postgraduate training in anaesthesiology. She pursued her interest in art and exhibited her works at various collective exhibitions.
During his speech at the launch Dr Vassallo remarked that: “Through her work, Eva Aramatys allows nature to portray itself. For her collages she uses natural materials like leaves and petals, as an integral part of her creations. The artwork portrays the beauty of nature and sends a clear message to humankind about the need to safeguard the natural beauty and landscape for the benefit of future generations for them to enjoy.”
Referred to as a “green” artist, Eva Armatys uses vine and banana leaves and hibiscus petals, colouring them with acrylic paints. Dr Vassallo applauded the artist’s initiative to donate 20 per cent of the proceeds to the Gozo Hospital Help Fund towards the badly needed portable ultrasound machine for the Maternity and Gynaecological Department.
