Interviewed by La Repubblica yesterday about her new album, Volta, and before her 21 July concert in Italy, Icelandic singer Bjork revealed that she purchased a boat in Malta last year and crossed the Atlantic Ocean in it, taking three weeks to sail from Cape Verde to Barbados.

The boat is now in Manhattan and Bjork lives on it. She claimed that it is a release from the claustrophobic impact of so many skyscrapers: anytime she needs to breathe, she can sail her boat into the Atlantic and return.

She also told Michael Tschernek that she sailed the boat from Malta to Tunisia and in fact composed many of the new album’s songs on it in Tunisian waters.
