Barclays International were once again the sponsors of the Golf Handicap Challenge, which took place on the 21st and 22nd of April 2007.
The competition, which is one of the ‘majors’ played every year at the club is a 36 hole, medal format competition, which takes place over the two days.
A total of 76 players took part, and the very windy conditions on the first day made for some interesting golf with balls flying off in every direction, and with the favourites falling by the way side.
However, it soon became obvious who the leading contenders were going to be and the day ended with Nick Borg, Natal Azzopardi and John Guillaumier taking the lead and finishing with a creditable net score of 66 each.
Day two saw the weather improving with the wind dropping, as did Guillaumier who came in with a net 77 to take him out of the running, with Nick Borg and Natal Azzopardi still hanging on with 67 and 73 giving them an aggregate score over the two days of 133 and 139 respectively, for them to end up as eventual winner and runner up.
Best score for day one was John Guillaumier with net 66, and day two was Alfie Lang a net 66 as well.
Refreshments were served at the Putters' Inn after the game and Mr. Nigel Stibbs of Barclays International kindly presented vouchers and prizes to all the winners.
The Royal Malta Golf Club thanks Barclays International for their continued support of the game of golf in Malta.
