Sirens managed to register a double over Neptunes in this campaign when they again beat the Balluta side with a 3-goal margin (9-6 in the first round). The proceedings in yesterday’s game were almost similar to the first round encounter with Sirens opening a considerable lad, Neptunes fighting back to equalise and then Sirens again gaining the upper hand.

A win next Saturday against fellow leaders Sliema will put the St.Paul’s Bay side in an ideal position to win this first seasonal honour.

Despite suffering the setback of losing stalwart and neo-signing Jonathan Valletta through a hand injury along the week (it seems this player will be missing for the next 2 months), Sliema still managed to return to winning ways and beat San Giljan for the second time this season (10-3 in the first round).

The game was definitely over when Sliema scored another three consecutive goals in the firts five minutes of the last session to go 13-5 ahead.

Sliema now meet Sirens next weekend in a top-of-the-table clash whose end result might be influential on the league’s outcome.
