The government has closed the hunting season because some irresponsible hunters did not abide by the law.

What about the responsible and law-abiding hunters? Using the same yardstick one would expect that the courts be closed because of irresponsible judges, Maltese roads be closed to traffic because of irresponsible drivers, Parliament be closed because of irresponsible MPs, and, while at it, the Church should be closed too because of irresponsible members of the clergy.

As a result of the above, there would no longer be the need for the Police Force and the Armed Forces, and so these two forces should then be dismantled.

Wow! We would be back to the Law of the Jungle!

Every activity carried out by humans is at times abused. One would expect law enforcement in the face of threats and unjustified cowardly actions.

Finally, I wonder if the reason behind government’s action to close the hunting season is only an excuse.
