Charlene Attard maintained her impressive string of successes in local athletics yesterday at the Marsa, when on the second day of the national championships, she established a new national record for the 100m event.

She clocked 11.93 seconds, thus beating her previous record of 12.03 seconds.

Attard, who had already qualified to take part in next month’s Monaco Games for European Small States, became the first Maltese girl to go below the 12 second mark in the event.
