Five More goals scored in season’s final match

Mosta and Tarxien produced another five goals in the final match of the league season, with Mosta emerging worthy winners. For both sides this was not the final match of the season as they are still involved in the semi-final of the Knock Out competition where they could meet in the final.

However yesterday’s match was a typical end of season match with both sides playing well below their usual standards. But all in all it was a pleasant match to watch especially in the second part.

Tarxien took the lead on 26 minutes with a classic own goal when Charles Sciberras passed back to his own goalkeeper who, however, failed to kick the ball that finished slowly at the back of the net.

Mosta, and especially Charles Sciberras, immediately made amends as the same player scored a beauty three minutes later with a half volley that gave the Tarxien goalkeeper no chance to save.

Just before half time Mosta forged ahead when Carlos Camenzuli did all the running before passing to Daniel Theuma who scored easily from close range.

At the start of the second half Mosta increased their lead when Ryan Deguara passed to the completely unmarked Carlos Camenzuli who crowned an overall good performance by tapping the ball home. Six minutes later Tarxien pulled one back when Alan Tabone passed to Simon Shead who lobbed the ball nicely over the Mosta goalkeeper and into the net.

This was the best patch of the match with Tarxien doing their utmost to save the match. A Francica header sailed over the bar, and a Simon Shead shot slightly missed the base of the upright.

On their part, Mosta went close with a Pace grounder that was saved by goalkeeper Cini.
