Shooting: Stanley Cardona Wins Malta international Trap Grand Prix

The Malta International Trap Grand Prix 2007 was organised on 125 clays at the weekend with the top six shooters qualifying for a barage final on another 25 clays.

Shooters from Malta, Italy, Great Britian and Australia took part in this event.

First overall was Stanley Cardona with a score of 135. Second was Stephen Vella with 132, after a shoot off with Frans Pace who placed third. Fourth was Emilio Ceccucci on 131, while fifth was Justin Attard on 130. Sixth was Joe Attard on a 129 score.

In the team event, Malta triumphed through Stanley Cardona, Frans Pace and Joe Attard. Second were the Italians through Emilio Ceccucci, Franco Barilozzi and Giovanni DeMaria while third were Great Britain/Australia with Donald Vella, Frank Vella, Joy Brearly, the latter also winning the women’s category.

George Micallef was the winner of the veterans class, ahead of second placed Gorg Cassar. Third was Franco Barilozzi, fourth Alfred Falzon, fifth Emmanuel Attard and sixth Peter Muscat.
