After organising close-up magic challenges, stage magic galas and parlour magic contests, this year, the Malta Ring no. 202 of the International Brotherhood of Magicians decided to organise a competition for children’s entertainers at the Patri Manwel Gatt school hall, Fleur-de-Lys.

The host and main organiser for this evening, ring president and territorial vice-president, Vanni Pulè, introduced the various acts.

Robert Ellul won the first prize, which consisted of an original trophy made by Mdina Glass, together with gifts donated by the two British concerns, Magic Books by Post and Alakazam Magic Company.

Other gifts from the same companies plus awards went to 18-year-old Kurt Kovit and Brian Role as runners-up. The former also won the children’s favourite award. This was established by a vote decided by the children present. Kurt’s runner-up was Geoffrey Buhagiar.

Monica Demanuele donated a prize for Communication Skills that was won by Tony Valletta.

The contest was judged by Frank O’Neil, Michael Mock, Martyn Vella, Dorita Maniscalco and child psychologist Ingrid Grech Lanfranco.
