The GWU’s Government and Public Entities Section is calling on the management of the Kordin Garage to provide proper working conditions for the workforce there.

The section said it has been complaining about the health dangers these workers face in the repair and maintenance of large machinery, including refuse-collection trucks.

These usually required work on their interior, where the waste was handled, and the management argued that the workers’ compensation should be the same as that for the other workers who separated the waste manually.

The section said this was unacceptable and it did not exclude resorting to action if nothing was done to remedy the situation.
