Malta Independent Thursday, 17 May 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

Twice the number of trees that were vandalised at Mellieha will be planted there next October, Rural Affairs and Environment Minister George Pullicino said yesterday. Support for the campaign to replace the vandalised trees was growing, meaning that the message against environmental vandalism was growing.

Mr Pullicino was addressing students at Sta Bernadette B primary school of San Gwann, who joined the students of Marija Bambina primary school of Mellieha in solidarity.

The students expressed disapproval at the vandalism and 5c were contributed by students to be passed on to the 34U campaign for trees to be purchased. The money collected was passed to Mr Pullicino for the Foresta 2000: Replant the Trees

campaign.
