The sixth edition of the Melita Digital Malta Football Awards is fast approaching and as it was announced last month when this year’s edition was launched there will be two new awards which will be totally voted for from the general public.

From the votes registered so far for the Best Support Award, Valletta supporters are heading the list with the Paolites and Birkirkara fans following closely.

The general public can continue to vote for this Award by sending an sms to 506 14 914 till the actual date of the Malta Football Awards which is scheduled for Saturday 9 June.

The sms’s will be registered till 15 minutes from the end of the show which will once again be screened live on local TV. In fact for the second consecutive year the Malta Football Awards will be broadcast on Melita Sports and also on the Weather and Information Channel which will be open to all Melita Cable clients.

All the Awards being contested this year are the following:

Best Goalkeeper, Best Defender, Best Midfielder, Best Striker, Most Promising Youngster, Best Coach, Best Maltese Player, Best Goal, Best Female Player, Best Futsal Player (1st Div), Best Onvol GFA Div I player, Best Veteran Player over 35 years, Best First Division Player, Special Award for Career, Special MFA Award, Special GFA Award and a Special YFA Award together with the Powerade Outstanding Award and the Best Support Award.

In the meantime the voting procedure for the majority of the categories came to an end last weekend and so in the coming days the Organising committee should announce the three finalists in each category.
