Note di Poesia is the apt title of an exhibition by Roberto Cippolone, popularly know as Ciro, at the Corinthia Palace Hotel in Attard until the end of this month. The event is intended to help, give promotion and publicity to the 34U campaign and is being sponsored by Bank of Valletta, Corinthia Hotels International and Camilleri Winery.

Mr E.V. Borg assesses Ciro’s work: “The art of Ciro is truly poetic. It is an extension of the artist’s character – lyrical, warm, loving, gentle and delicate. The art of Ciro is virtually recycling of waste, made from found objects abandoned in the countryside, on the quay of ports, on the shore and dumping ground. Often enough such art is referred to by the technical French term object trouve or assemblage. Ciro’s work is in a way the result of alchemy as he transforms waste into gold that is museum pieces. He pays great attention to texture. More than montage or assemblage he weaves the material he exploits into wonderful brocade, embroidery. He achieves a rare and unique sculptural unity. Wood, metal and ceramics are transformed into a new figurative reality of fabulous delicacy and nobility. They become sacred objects. Ciro is well known for his cribs and statuettes improvised from old wood.”
