A total of six people appeared in court over the weekend to answer separate charges of assaulting police, being drunk and disorderly, fraud and breaching bail conditions.

Claire Polidano, 32, from Birzebbuga pleaded not guilty to threatening people, being drunk and disorderly, breaching the peace, causing willful damage and relapsing in view of previous convictions. Bail was set against an Lm100 personal guarantee.

An unnamed 18-year-old from Sudan was charged of assault with a sharp instrument and escaping from police custody. The court ordered that he be kept on remand.

Brenda McDonald, 51, from Scotland and Tina Maria O' Neill, from England, pleaded not guilty to slightly injuring two police officers and breaching the peace. Bail was set against an Lm600 guarantee each.

Alfred Bugeja, 49, from Valletta was accused of breaching bail conditions and was taken into custody at the Corradino Correctional Facility. Paul Tedesco, 56, from Zabbar, pleaded guilty to falsifying public documents and defrauding a commercial entity out of an undisclosed sum of money. He was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm5,000. Dr Silvio Meli and Dr Consuelo Scerri Herrera presided over the courts.
