President Eddie Fenech Adami and Mrs Fenech Adami yesterday paid an official visit to Gharghur.

They attended mass at St Bartholomew’s parish church after which they met residents on the parvis and were treated with coffee and pastizzi, an old Maltese tradition.

The President, accompanied by Gharghur Mayor Mario Gauci, met apiarist Bertu Sant, and volunteer Joe Zarb who dedicates much of his time restoring festa paraphernalia.

Dr Fenech Adami visited also the Semaforu Tower, the Chapel of St Mary taz-Zellieqa, as well as the St Bartholomew’s Band Club. He thanked the local council for their work as well as their support for local voluntary associations.

Mrs Fenech Adami and Anna Maria Gauci, the mayor’s wife, met several families and also paid a visit to the Franciscan convent.
