Spinelli Choir Concert for orphans

Last Sunday, Bay Street hosted the Spinelli Angels Choir in concert in a fund-raising event entitled Cool Songs, Warm Hearts, being held this year in aid of orphans in The Philippines who are cared for by the missions of the Augustinian Sisters.

The nuns, who care for orphaned children and unwanted babies, are constructing a building to provide the children with ample space for schooling and accommodation.

Spinelli Angels Choir of St Monica, Birkirkara, is named after Mother Maria Teresa Spinelli, Mother Foundress of the Augustinian Sisters, who run the St Monica Schools in the Island. The choir is comprised of 60 girls, the ages of whom range from six to 16, who are dedicated to helping those in need, especially the missions, through their talents of singing, dancing, music and humour.

The girls spend many hours of bubbling energy in rehearsing their singing as a voluntary contribution to improve the lives of others. In fact, the choir’s motto is “Freely you have received, freely give!” (Mt 10:8).
