The General Workers’ Union has filed a judicial protest in court claiming that workers at the Malta Shipyards are exposed to asbestos at work.
The union, which represents workers at the Malta Shipyards said these workers are regularly exposed to asbestos and complained that the company is not doing enough to ensure a safe workplace for its employees.
The GWU called on the company to ensure that its employees are not exposed to this substance while working on repairing ships and held them responsible for the damage the asbestos may cause to their health in the future.
Dr Aaron Mifsud Bonnici signed the writ.
