A promenade which will act as a belvedere over Hoxt and Zurrieq valleys will make it possible for people strolling along it to enjoy some of Malta’s Neolithic heritage, nature’s beauty and rural life, Minister Ninu Zammit said when viewing works which have been taken in hand on the second phase of the belvedere from which Wied Babu leads to Hagar Qim.

The second phase will be 1,300 metres long, which would mean that a belvedere of over two kilometres will have been built. The works include refurbishing the existing car park and a new traffic junction. At present, the foundations are being laid, and in all some 2,000 cubic metres of rubble will be used to embellish the area.

There will be paving and recessed light fittings will be installed so that the light will not harm the surrounding natural environment.
