It is truly a shame that the building contractors of what was Papillon Cafeteria in Balzan/Birkirkara, have been allowed to build a boundary wall 20cm from the road. Since when have pavements become part of a construction site?
Aren’t they supposed to build a “tunnel” over the one-metre width of the pavement (not 20cm) through which people can pass safely without having to cross to the other side of the road? When is the public going to start seeing a decent hoarding erected at a building site?
The people living in this area have already tolerated too much when the building was being demolished – truck drivers were manoeuvring their trucks into the site with total disrespect to passing traffic, excessive dust was all over the place for days on end, dangerous manoeuvres took place on the site with workers running all over the place without hard hats (not to mention other safety procedures)... and now this last insult!
When will these comedies stop?
