The last encounters of the qualifying phase of the San Michel Team Tournament sponsored by Simonds Farsons Cisk through their product “San Michel Table Water”, which is currently being held at TCK were played last Sunday. Excitement reigned high on all the courts as all the six teams but one had a chance to qualify for the semi-finals.

Team F of Doriana Portelli, which led the table throughout the qualifying rounds had an assailable lead and was sure of qualification.

However, the other teams had to fight hard to achieve their aim due to the very slight difference in points between them.

The surprise of the last day was Team D, captained by Joseph Zammit, which finished the day sharing the second place with Team E of Joe Vella. Zammit’s team had started the day in the fourth position in the table.

Team Positions: Team F (Doriana Portelli) 79; E (Joe Vella) 73; D (Joseph Zammit) 73; A (Mary Xuereb) 71; C (Silvio Gusman) 69;B ( Joseph Vella) 55.

The semifinals and final will be played on Saturday and Sunday, 26 and 27May. Play starts at 4pm Saturday and at 5pm on Sunday
