The fund-raising concert held at De La Salle College by Voices was a great success and, in their usual manner, Voices had the whole audience – ranging from school children to pensioners – on their feet singing and dancing to the popular tunes for which they are so famous.

Helga Ellul, president of Rotary Club La Valette Malta, the concert organisers, said: “This event has been a great achievement for Voices, for our club and for the people of Cottonera, and we are happy to be working together with the schools in the area and with Vittoriosa local council on our projects.”

These include support for school libraries, a primary school literacy project, with expertise from Allan McLeod who is experienced in education in Canada and who now resides in Malta, and the rehabilitation of the Santa Margherita Lines, previously a neglected area which is to be used for recreational purposes.

The choir was directed by Martina Caruana and Joe Cachia.

Rotary Club La Valette Malta thanked all the members of the choir, Edward Fenech who organised the event, De La Salle College for kindly making their hall available for the concert, The Sound System Co. Ltd, sponsors EyeMalta.com, Vodafone, Credaltrust Management Ltd and Mediterranean Bank Wealth Management. The club said it was particularly grateful to Cottonera College head Salvina Muscat, Vittoriosa mayor John Boxall and, last but not least, everyone who participated in or otherwise supported the event.

The incoming president of Rotary Club La Valette Malta Matthew von Brockdorff said: “We look forward to this year’s San Martin event in Cottonera, following the success of last year’s event that attracted a large number of families from the area.”
