The General Workers Union yesterday expressed surprise at the “aggressive attack” on it made by the Union Haddiema Maghqudin last Tuesday.

The attack, it said, helped worsen the division between Maltapost employees.

The GWU said it could not be attacked for rushing into signing an agreement even when the majority of employees were against it, as the UHM did in the case of the Customs Department employees. In this case, the employees had taken legal action.

The UHM had also signed an agreement with the government on nursing aides when the GWU was defending a different position taken by the workers, the GWU added.
