It does not matter if it is a U-turn or not.

The important thing is that Xaghra l-Hamra will not be turned into a golf course but, instead, will be converted into a nature and history park that is five times the size of Valletta.

Well done to the government for realising that a golf course would have been enjoyed only by a few people and, worse still, would have led to the development that always accompanies such projects.

Instead, the park will be enjoyed by one and all. We have limited open spaces in Malta, and it is often hard for families to share a few hours together in the countryside. Once this project is completed, we will have one more place to go to at the weekend.

What I do hope is that this was not just an election

gimmick, now that the general election is getting closer, and I trust that the government will take matters in hand immediately so that the project will be implemented as soon as possible.
