From Ms A. Borg
I refer to the great excitement in the local media about the PN’s U-turn regarding the proposed golf course at Xaghra l-Hamra in Ghajn Tuffieha and Manikata.
Though fulsome acknowledgment of several NGOs contribution concerning the protection of Xaghra l-Hamra is fitting, explicit recognition of Alternattiva Demokratika’s pivotal role in initially alerting the EU Commission to the issue is likewise warranted.
Alternattiva Demokratika successfully organised two walks in 2005 to protect and preserve Xaghra l-Hamra for future generations. It was the first time I was not afraid to participate in an event organised by AD and so I was there. I protested, while the MLP was conspicuously absent and the PN had free publicity, in colour, in all our Sunday newspapers of 21 May 2007.
This prompted me to write this letter. This time I feel unashamed to publicly state for the first time: AD has always cared. They now have my vote.
AD has achieved all this without parliamentary representation. Now I ask your readers: Can you imagine what we could accomplish with it in Parliament?
