A devilishly funny, two-act play which parodies the excesses of modern multinational corporations. Desperate for a new product to spice up their lives, Lockheart Industries start producing machines which create fresh air by sucking it from the atmosphere. Their aggressive marketing makes these machines a massive success with resulting dire consequences for the planet. Gasping is written by Ben Elton, awarding winning author, playwright and television star. Starring Alan Montanaro, Edward Mercieca, John Montanaro, Julia Calvert and Sarah Zammit. Vocal Aid 2007

FM Theatre Productions in collaboration with the Stagecoach Kidz are producing a musical extravaganza in aid of SOS Eden. Vocal Aid 2007 is a musical delight jam packed with show stoppers from Broadway, Disney and film - a sure-fire thrill for the whole family, with songs from musicals including Tarzan, Wicked, Fiddler on the Roof and The Lion King. Musical direction is in the hands of Denise Mulholland and choreography is by Emma Loftus.

Malta Mediterranean Folk Festival
6 June in Ghargur, 9, 10 June at Argotti Gardens, Floriana
The Mediterranean Folk Festival will replace the former National Folk Singing Festival (Festival ta' l-Ghana). The festival is organised by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts and includes local and foreign participants. Seven Maltese folk groups of improvisers, ballad singers, high-pitched singers and folk musicians are participating. This year the organising committee will be hosting four foreign groups from Sicily, Germany, Spain and Italy. A live crafts exhibition will also be organised during the festival with the collaboration of the Malta Crafts Council.

Cinecafe`
1 June at the Elysium Visitor Centre, Ghajn Tuffieha
The last night of Cinecafe’, a series of weekly film screenings combining entertainment and awareness, is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals. Organised by the Gaia Foundation, the aim behind the event is to raise awareness on a number of environmental themes whilst relaxing in a natural setting and watching films followed by a discussion. The audience will also be able to walk around the foundation, visit the organic and free trade shop and chill out in the revamped outdoor eating area. A Tale of Consequent Parallels

In his sixth solo exhibition, Damian Ebejer presents an interesting collection which features some of his recent paintings as well as some earlier works. He also features some life size samples and photographic reproductions of his ceiling and mural paintings.

An exhibition of paintings by Chinese artist Jason Lu. Yanse is ‘colour’ in Chinese. The reason for the artist choosing this subject matter is that colour is actually an illusion and what we see is a mutation of vibrations of energy which objects transmit and which we in turn translate into forms and hence into objects.

Generation
22 June-5 August at St James Cavalier, Valletta
Australian born Mark Gerada's paintings incorporate wonderful old images from photographs that his Maltese grandfather Paul Bonello and father Vic Gerada took during his 1970s childhood. Working on 60 canvases simultaneously, Mark works the photographic images into collages, combining them with layers of paint and bright colour.

An exhibition of paintings by Julian Calabrese, born in the UK and of Celtic and Italian ancestry. This rich mix has stimulated the artist's unique style and approach to his work. A professional painter for 11 years, he is currently gaining inspiration on Malta's tiny sister island, Gozo. He has also gained invaluable inspiration from working in film, theatre and design fields.

Gaiafest
7-10 June at the Elysium Visitor Centre, Ghajn Tuffieha
Gaiafest, a festival of holistic leaving, interweaves seminars, practical demonstrations and workshops on diverse themes such as global warming, clean energy, biodiversity, martial arts, dance, arts and crafts, animal welfare, complementary therapies and nutrition, with stalls selling organic food, natural health products and fair trade goods. In short a one stop educational, entertaining and yummy experience in the big Mediterranean summer outdoors.

Summer Solstice and Temples Heritage Trail
